There may be some hope for Maude yet. I've observed her fighting for more food AND spending some time in the nesting box. Either she's just mimicking her friends OR she's getting ready to lay us some beautiful blue and green eggs!

I'd like to have an Americauna or two. I'll have to do some checking around. Didn't know about the sexing thing. Never really bought from a feed store. If you can get three from mypetchicken.com I'd go that way. Sounds like a good deal. Look forward to seeing what you get!

I think we got 18 eggs from the ladies today. A large portion of my birds are retirees that just don't lay well until we get lots of warm weather.
ReplyDeleteThe 5 Standard size youngens are True Ameraucanas. I love their Blue eggs. I like the fact that my blue chickens lay blue eggs.

I want blue eggs, too! Hopefully Maude will start laying soon. I caught her sitting in the nesting box again this morning. :)
ReplyDeleteI bet she will! My brown easter egger just starting laying about a week ago -- a good 2 months after her 'sisters'. Until then she seem obsessed with the others when they would lay -- she'd stand in there with them just staring at them the whole time. Then she would be the one coming out and turmpeting the good news to the world. Both of my Easter Eggers are laying beautiful sage green eggs now -- Australorp is a perfect brown. Chickens rock!
